When you’re producing high quality seed it’s essential to maintain the integrity and identity of the crop once it’s been harvested. Different varieties have to be kept separate and the tonnage of each variety stored will change every year depending upon what is grown. That’s the reason Chris Bull of Hitcham in Suffolk decided to invest in Alfablocs for his grain store last year.

“If we get any cross-contamination in our store it could mean the seed crop being rejected for planting purposes and we therefore we lose the premium we are paid for producing a seed crop” said Chris. “Alfabloc was the perfect solution as it allowed us to have a retaining wall system which we could reconfigure easily depending upon our needs each season.”

The 3 metre Alfablocs were loaded on both sides and were heavy enough not to be needed to be bolted down to the floor. The interlocking plates also stops grain from one side of the wall leaking through to the other, again an essential requirement when producing a seed crop.
