Poundfield Precast delivers a long distance coastal defence solution

Distance and travelling time were no obstacle when we supplied quality precast concrete products for a new sea defence structure in Scotland.

Although Cockenzie on the Firth of Forth along Scotland’s east coast is some 400 miles and about seven hours away from our Bury St Edmunds operations, our client, Hart Builders, had no doubts that we were right for the job.

Our team successfully manufactured and delivered 43 L-Blocs, incorporating a Reckli or rough surface finish as per planning requirements, for installation as a sea wall above the tidal break.

According to Tim Evans, director – bespoke products at Poundfield “hot on the heels of our work in designing, manufacturing and supplying precast concrete panels to Whitley Bay in the north east of England, we secured another coastal construction project somewhat further north again. This is becoming a real strength of ours and Poundfield is delighted to have worked with Hart Builders on the Cockenzie project.”

Tim explained that “there was an added twist to this project as at about the halfway point, through nobody’s fault, a major design change had to be made. I’m pleased to say that our external engineers managed to react swiftly to overcome the problem and incorporated the seven units already cast into the new design; saving our the client any additional costs and delays.”
