Storage bays

Poundfield Precast has recently supplied and installed 260 Alfablocs at a new recycling centre being established by Tippers ‘R’ Us of Kesgrave near Ipswich in Suffolk.

The 3.05 m high Alfablocs, one of a range of concrete retaining wall systems manufactured by Poundfield Precast, are being installed to provide a series of bays to store a variety of products including construction and demolition waste as well as crushed materials and recycled stone and sands once a new washing plant comes on stream.

According to company owner Guy Nicholls, Poundfield’s Alfabloc system was chosen mainly for its ability to be easily re-configured at any time to suit the business as it expands, but also for its overall professional appearance compared with other storage methods.

Initially, the new centre will handle up to 2000 tonne of material every day but with plans already in place to extend the storage bays with an additional 290 Alfablocs to be installed by the early part of 2016.

Poundfield’s Alfabloc retaining walling is designed to be freestanding for most applications and  is cast  at a width of 1.2 m in heights ranging from 1.22 to 6 m. The interconnecting system provides a structurally efficient walling system requiring just a solid base to sit on and can be loaded on one or both sides for maximum versatility.
