The aim was to provide greater insight into the design and manufacturing processes behind precast concrete, while encouraging open discussion and knowledge sharing between engineers and manufacturers.
In total, around 20 visitors joined us for the day, taking part in a guided tour of our site led by Tim Evans, Director of Bespoke for Poundfield.
Feedback from the attendees was extremely positive. Many commented on how valuable it was to see the manufacturing process first-hand and gain a better understanding of design considerations when working with precast elements. Visitors were particularly impressed by the complexity and scale of the projects currently being produced in our yard, as well as the high levels of quality control maintained across our operations.
A key message from the day was the value of early collaboration between engineers and precast manufacturers. Engaging with a precaster at the design stage can help optimise design efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure more efficient construction on site.
Sustainability was another key theme of the day. Our team discussed the various carbon-reduction options available within our product range, including the use of Basalt reinforcement, which several attendees were seeing for the first time. The discussion highlighted how innovation and material choice can play a major role in reducing the carbon footprint of precast solutions.
The visit was a great success and we’re delighted that the session helped strengthen the relationship between structural engineers and the precast industry. Due to the level of interest, we are already planning to host further sessions in the future.
At Poundfield Precast, we remain committed to collaboration, innovation, and sustainability – and to sharing our expertise with the wider engineering community.
