Completed Poundfield Precast sea defence wall at Whitley Bay

The Whitley Bay Central Promenade Coastal Protection Works, for which Poundfield supplied 2,000 bespoke concrete wall panels has been awarded a respected civil engineering award.

The project received the ‘Medium Project Award’ for projects with a value between £1m and £5m at the 2019 Robert Stephenson Awards, held by the Institution for Civil Engineers (ICE) in Gosforth Park, Newcastle.

Held annually, the awards aim to showcase outstanding work completed during the preceding year by civil engineers in the North East.

The Whitley Bay project saw a stretch of coastline regenerated. At the same time, the sea defences were upgraded to offer robust defence against current and future coastal conditions. Poundfield supplied 2,000 bespoke precast panels and coping units to the project, to help reinforce the existing sea walls.

Working alongside the contractor, Hall Construction, who received the award, we’re proud to have delivered our products on schedule to help make this magnificent scheme a success.
