It’s the first working day of 2019 and Poundfield Precast has held it’s Safe Start Day.

Designed to ensure all the equipment is functioning correctly having been shut down over the festive period, Safe Start Day also allows us to provide additional health & safety training ahead of a busy year of concrete production.

We use days like today to ensure our equipment is calibrated and checked to ensure it works to its maximum prior to going into production tomorrow morning.

Talks were given by our supervisors on health & safety – a key issue for us at Poundfield. Since becoming part of Sigma PPG in 2017, we have taken a number of measures to make our facilities an even safer place to work. These include introducing pedestrian footpaths & safety railings around the site and wearing orange reflective overalls instead of yellow.

As well the important health & safety and functionality checks, we also discussed our successes in 2018 and our plans for 2019 with our teams, and have come up with a number of plans to improve efficiencies in the coming year.
