Poundfield Precast of Ipswich in Suffolk has recently clocked-up sales of over 1000 of its Alfabloc concrete retaining wall sections to a Birkenhead based logistics company specialising in handling bulk materials.

NW Trading was formed in 1999 and has since enjoyed steady growth with additional facilities now established at both Goole and Hull. In total, the company handles well in excess of 1M tonne of bulk materials every year ranging from fertilisers to biomass. In addition, the company also acts as a warehouse keepers, haulage contractors, shipping agents and stevedores.

Most of Poundfield’s Alfablocs have been installed at the Goole and Hull premises where NW Trading’s large sheds were not originally designed for storing bulk materials. The 2.44 m and 3.05 m high Alfablocs have therefore been used to line all the internal walls as well as create a series of bays to segregate different products and hence prevent any cross contamination.

Commenting on the company’s use of Alfablocs, NW Trading’s local general manager said: “They have proved highly robust and ideal for our application, particularly because they are very easy to move around when we need to reconfigure any bays.”

Poundfield Precast is the UK’s leading manufacturer of precast and prestressed concrete retaining wall products and is proud to have NW Trading as its largest client in the Ports & Shipping sector.
