The company has recently installed 80 Alfablocs to form a large silage clamp at one of its sites where 300 suckler beef cattle are reared every year.

The 3.05m high Alfablocs chosen have, for this application, been securely bolted onto a purpose-built 150mm thick concrete plinth. This plinth incorporates a drainage gulley around the entire clamp to safely carry effluent to storage tanks.

The new clamp has been designed to hold around 1100 tonne of grass for winter feeding replacing an old railway sleeper version which had come to the end of its life.

Commenting on the choice of Alfablocs, company director Graham Rowles Nicholson said: “We came across Poundfield Precast whilst looking into the possibility of setting-up a composting plant and were impressed with its wide selection of retaining wall systems. The 3m high Alfablocs we chose for our application were very easy and quick to install and we are very happy with the end result.”
